I need you to be perfectly honest, do you take care of your skin? Like really take care of it? Do you wash it? do you hydrate it? Do you treat it? Or do you just like, wash your face (you do that minimum right?) and your body and voila, it’s done?
I’m going to be pretty honest, I’m lazy for my body, I have dry skin, and I’m negecting it, and I shouldn’t. I invested in good body washes to at least try to make some type of effort… but I don’t want to waste my other ones so I’m kind of in between.
But my face, Seeing as it’s the one thing that so many people tend to really see first, I do take care of it. I do all those fancy schmancy stuff, except for the face oil, I heard that’s a good treat to do too.
I mean, you want that perfect skin right? You want your skin to glow so that if you don’t have time, or you don’t want to wear makeup, you really won’t care because your skin will be AHMAZING. But you know you have to put some effort in that right? Yeah, unfortunately you do. And it has to go based on your skin type.
Skin Types
Why skin types? Why is that necessary? Well, what I use for my skin, might not help make your skin look as amazing as it should. It is so important to find the right products for your skin type, because it will target the areas you need to work on. So let’s help you find your skin type:
You can do a small quiz that I have done a while back to see if it’s spot on or you can also check the different types here;
Normal Skin Type
- It basically looks and feels normal, you can’t really compare with Oily or Dry
- You rarely experience oiliness or dryness
- Your pores aren’t enlarged or visible
- You rarely or never need to touch up your makeup
- You don’t have tightness or oiliness at the end of the day
- Your skin tone is fairly even, with no brown or red spots or patches
Oily Skin Type
- You have enlarged pores
- Your complexion is often or always ‘too shiny’
- You always or often have blackheads, pimples or other blemishes
- Your makeup doesn’t stay in place for long
Dry Skin Type
- You have almost invisible pores
- Your complexion is dull and rough
- You sometimes or always get red patches
- Your skin isn’t very elastic
- You have visible lines
Combination Skin Type
- Your pores look larger than normal, because they are more open
- You have blackheads
- Your skin is shiny
- You have dry areas
Do you see your skin type in any of these? Reading this, I guess I have more Normal Skin Type, I’m pretty lucky, although I do have a bit of dryness because my skin did look dull. I say did, because I take care of it. I am actually aging backwards thanks to my skincare routine. Even if you have amazing skin to start, trust me, taking care of it will give you even more glow.
34 years old 40 years old
There are so many amazing skin cares out there. The one I’m using is by Younique and what I love is that you can pick the right boosters for your Skin Type AND it will be customized to your name and your needs. Of course they’re going to offer you all the products for maximum outcome, but you pick and chose what you want to start with.
See, this is the fun part with this skin care, you pick 3 out of 6 boosters for each skin care that will focus your needs.
BEAUTY EXTRAS FOR YOUR SKIN TYPE
Masks and exfoliaters are also extra bonuses so that your skin can be even more amazing. These will target your needs and should be done once to twice a week. And one thing you should always add is SPF, THIS will give you that protection so that your skin doesn’t age so quickly and more importantly, it will protect you from cancer.
These beauty extras are available for your whole body as well. Because why stop at your face when you can treat yourself? Take a nice bath with a bath oil, bath salts, bubble bath, just, pamper yourself, you deserve it. I know as a mother I always put my needs last, but my skin care regime for my face is something I try to keep doing, because I want to feel good about walking around makeup free.
I know my post alone might not convince you, but what if I said my recent selfie (in the cranberry shirt) is me at 40 years old? Makeup free, and barely a fine line. Would it be a bit more convincing that Skin Care is worth it? ๐
How about you? Why don’t you share your skin care routine, your favourite product, your must have item, or even your favourite home-made products? We’re all about empowering here ๐ Also, if you want to join my little makeup community on Facebook, just ask to join here. It’s in a group because I know some of us are shy, and don’t want everyone to see. But I have some amazing women on there, and we are looking to build each other up and learn tricks from one another.
Take care,
